Jurgen Schmerler, MBA
Jurgen is a serial entrepreneur specializing in mobile and cloud-based solutions that revolutionize the way things are done. VerifiR incarnates Jurgen’s vision that technology can solve one of the hardest problems he encountered with his clients in the pharmaceutical industry – the counterfeiting of medicines. Jurgen believes that we can change the world for the better by interrupting the illicit proceeds and ill effects of counterfeited goods. The social impact of VerifiR will be felt in many areas of the health and consumer markets, where VerifiR will re-establish trust, transparency, and a sense of community between makers and users.
Before founding VerifiR, Jurgen guided the development and commercialization of cloud-based information systems for the DeepSky Group. Under Jurgen’s leadership, DeepSky acquired most of the top 10 pharmaceutical manufacturers as clients. Previously, Jurgen was a consultant to many international clients at KPMG.
Jurgen holds a Master of Engineering degree and an MBA . As a Fulbright scholar he is active in social causes and the business community in California.
Co-Founder, Chief Technical Officer
Ulf is a mobile industry expert and e-business pioneer with 20 years of experience in building web and mobile solutions combined with 7 years of experience in management consulting at KPMG and mm1 Consulting & Management.
He co-designed & programmed the first car trade portal in Germany, which won IBM’s E-Business Award. As vice president of business development and sales engineering, Ulf helped build operations and business at Opera Software in the Americas and most recently served as vice president of marketing at Starscriber, where he was responsible for expanding their big data cloud based service portfolio. Ulf holds bachelor and master degrees in physics and business administration with a focus on game theory.
Chief Financial Officer
David is a strategic and hands-on financial executive with over 25 years of full-time experience in public and private companies with international operations. Companies he worked with range from start-up through mid-sized, high tech and life sciences, and include over 10 years in manufacturing.
A Harvard MBA, David built expertise in leading finance and operations during periods of both cash constraints and rapid growth, raising over $60M in equity and debt, reducing cash burn, improving profits, and coordinating collaborations. David is familiar with the venture-backed environment, as well as the IPO and reverse merger processes. David also worked as CFO for Somanta Inc., Anadys Inc. and Gen-Probe Inc.
Chief Marketing Officer
Mr. Hoover has 25 years of marketing and business development experience in startups with market-defining technologies. His experience spans a decade during which Invitrogen—a molecular biology kit & reagent company—expanded from a 20 person startup to 3000 public entity. Subsequently he handled global biocomputing marketing and strategy for genomics-based pharmaceutical research solutions (TimeLogic) that ranged up to 1 million dollar installations. He then served as CEO for the North American subsidiary of MedinCell, an injectable, controlled-release drug delivery technology platform, and has also consulted for startups in computational modeling and Internet-of-Things (Pet Wireless) health monitoring industries.

Jim Lambright has a wealth of experience leading and advising organizations operating at the intersection of global finance, business, and government.
Most recently, he served as senior vice president of Sempra Energy, overseeing M&A and corporate strategy for the Fortune 500 utility and mid-stream company. Prior to joining Sempra Energy, Lambright served as chief operating officer, chief financial officer, and board member of a San Diego-based venture-backed renewable energy company.
Lambright’s earlier leadership roles include serving as the presidentially-nominated and Senate-confirmed chairman and CEO of the U.S. Export-Import Bank, an independent government corporation based in Washington, D.C., responsible for financing U.S. exports. During his tenure, Lambright managed a $60 billion credit portfolio with exposure to more than 150 countries and transformed the Ex-Im Bank into a self-financing institution, ending reliance on the annual federal budgeting process.
During the financial crisis of 2008-09, Lambright served as chief investment officer of the U.S. Treasury Department’s $700 billion Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) at the request of Treasury Securities Henry Paulson and Timothy Geithner.
He serves on the advisory board of the University of California at San Diego School of Global Policy and Strategy and the board of PeacePlayers International, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit organization. He also is a Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute.
Lambright earned a law degree with honors from Harvard Law School and a bachelor’s degree with distinction from Stanford University.
